Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
DuraFlex Chimney Sweep in Las Vegas: What to Know First
A DuraFlex chimney sweep in Las Vegas typically runs $189 to $289 for a standard cleaning and inspection, and most jobs are completed the same week we hear from you. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider, not a factory-authorized shop, which means we tell you plainly what’s actually wrong with your liner and what can wait. If you own a home with a DuraFlex stainless liner and haven’t had it swept in two years or more, this page is written for you. Call (725) 227-7352 and we’ll give you a real price before anyone climbs on your roof.
How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Most DuraFlex liners hold up well in Las Vegas, but we see the same handful of failure patterns repeat across the valley. Here’s what we find on sweep jobs, named by the line we most often pull it from:
- DuraFlex 316L (wood-burning): glazed creosote buildup at the smoke shelf transition. In homes near Summerlin and the northwest, wood fireplaces get used hard December through February. The 316L liner itself resists corrosion, but the corrugated interior traps creosote, the tar-like residue that causes chimney fires, faster than a smooth-walled liner. We see third-stage glazing where the liner passes through the old masonry throat. Our fix is a mechanical sweep with a poly brush followed by a camera check of the full liner run.
- DuraFlex AL (gas appliance liner): soot and nesting debris at the termination cap. The AL series is common on older gas furnaces and water heaters across Las Vegas. The weak point isn’t the liner; it’s the cap. Wind-blown soot and bird nesting plug the top mesh, which backs combustion gases down into the chase. We pull the cap, clear the debris, and inspect the liner joints while we’re up there.
- DuraFlex Pro (relining kits): failed tee connection at the base. When we sweep a DuraFlex Pro system, we routinely find the stainless tee at the base has been knocked out of round during a prior cleaning by someone using a steel cable brush. That’s a parts issue, not a liner failure. We use replacement tees built to DuraFlex specs rather than fitting a universal part that leaks condensate back into the firebox.
- DuraFlex 304 (high-efficiency gas): acidic condensate pitting near the top. This is the one that surprises even me. In Las Vegas winters, the temperature swing from cold nights to warm afternoons creates condensation inside high-efficiency gas liners. The condensate is mildly acidic and settles at the joints. Over five to eight years, we see pinhole pitting at the upper joint seams. A sweep won’t fix it, but a camera inspection will catch it before it becomes an exhaust leak.
- DuraFlex single-wall flex (wood stove insert): crushed liner from improper installation. We find liners that were never insulated or were forced through an offset that’s too tight. The liner kinks, creosote packs behind the kink, and draft dies. When we see that on a sweep, we’ll show you the camera footage and tell you straight whether the liner needs replacing or just a better cleaning path.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Sweep Process
Here’s what happens when you call Alcott Chimney Las Vegas for a DuraFlex sweep, from the first phone call to the last wipe-down:
- 1
You call, a human answers. We take your address, the type of appliance (wood, gas, or stove insert), and when you last had the chimney swept. We give you a written price before the truck rolls.
- 2
You see our technician before we arrive. We send the name and photo of the background-checked, identity-verified tech assigned to your job. They show a photo ID at the door, every time. This is the Threshold Standard, and we don’t skip it.
- 3
Pre-sweep inspection. We check the firebox, damper, cap, and visible liner. If you have a DuraFlex liner, we note the specific series and condition before anything gets cleaned.
- 4
Dust-controlled sweep. We seal the firebox opening, run a HEPA-filtered vacuum, and sweep the flue with brushes matched to the liner type. For DuraFlex corrugated liners, that’s a poly or hybrid brush, never a steel cable brush that can scar the interior.
- 5
Post-sweep camera pass. We run a camera through the full liner so you see what we see. If we find a crack, a failed joint, or pitting, you get the footage and a straight answer on whether it needs repair now or can wait a season.
- 6
Written report and guarantee. You get a written summary of what we found, what we did, and what we recommend. Every repair we make carries a written 365-day guarantee: if it fails within that year, the second visit is free.

AfterWhat DuraFlex Chimney Sweep Costs in Las Vegas
Here are the honest numbers for the most common DuraFlex scenarios we see in Las Vegas homes:
- Standard sweep with Level 1 inspection: $189 to $249 for a single flue, wood or gas.
- Sweep with Level 2 camera inspection: $289 to $389 when you need the full liner documented, which we recommend if the home is new to you or the liner hasn’t been inspected in five years.
- Glazed creosote removal (third-stage buildup): adds $75 to $150 depending on severity. This is common on DuraFlex 316L liners in wood-burning fireplaces.
- Cap replacement or tee repair: $120 to $280 including the part, depending on the DuraFlex series and access.
What moves the price: height and pitch of the roof, how badly the flue is packed, and whether we’re doing a repair while we’re up there. What doesn’t move the price: surprises. You get a written number before we start, and that’s the number you pay. Call (725) 227-7352 for a free estimate on your specific setup.
Why Las Vegas Homeowners Call Alcott Chimney Las Vegas for DuraFlex Work
Ruben Castellano has been running inspections and cleanings across the Las Vegas Valley for well over a decade, including plenty of calls out near Summerlin where wood-burning fireplaces show up more than desert logic would suggest. We earned our reputation by doing the thing most companies skip: we show you the proof. Every DuraFlex sweep includes a camera pass, so there’s no mystery about what we found and no pressure to approve a liner replacement you can’t verify. We also carry and install the full professional lineup, HeatShield resurfacing and Gelco products among them, so if your DuraFlex liner has a problem that needs more than a sweep, we’re not going to tell you to rip the whole system out because we only sell one fix. Written price before work starts, written guarantee on every repair, and a live person on the phone around the clock. Tell me what you’re seeing, and I’ll tell you straight what it means.
FAQs
No. Routine chimney sweeping with brushes matched to the liner type is a required maintenance practice under DuraFlex’s own installation instructions. What can threaten a warranty claim is using a steel cable brush that scores the corrugated interior, or letting creosote buildup sit for years. We use poly and hybrid brushes on DuraFlex 316L and 304 liners for exactly this reason. If you’re uncertain about your warranty status, call us and we’ll tell you what we see before any work begins.
Once a year if you burn wood regularly, even in a mild desert winter. The creosote that builds up on a DuraFlex 316L corrugated liner doesn’t need cold weather to form, it needs smoke and time. If you have a gas fireplace with a DuraFlex liner, every two to three years is usually enough, but an annual visual check of the cap and exposed joints is still smart. Call (725) 227-7352 and we’ll help you set a schedule that matches how you actually use your fireplace.
In most cases, yes. We run sweeps across Las Vegas five days a week, and we keep enough capacity to slot in a standard single-flue job within a few days of your call. Large projects, full relines, or jobs that need a second technician for roof access may take longer. When you call, we’ll give you a real window before you commit to anything.
Most of the time, just a sweep. A dirty liner creates draft problems, smoke in the house, and higher fire risk, and all of that clears up with a proper cleaning. We only recommend replacement when the camera shows structural damage: pitting through the steel, a separated joint that’s venting gas, or a crushed section from bad installation. And we’ll show you the footage on the spot so you can see the justification yourself.
We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider, not a factory-authorized installer. That means we install, inspect, repair, and sweep DuraFlex liner systems, but any warranty claims go through DuraFlex directly, not through us as a middleman. In practice, that independence helps you: we’re not going to oversell a liner replacement we don’t make money on, and we’ll tell you flat out when a competitor’s recommendation doesn’t hold up.
